Motor vehicle body manufacturing

This Canadian industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in manufacturing truck, bus, and other motor vehicle bodies. These establishments purchase the chassis or semi-complete vehicle and manufacture the rest of the body, thereby completing the vehicle, or manufacture bodies and cabs for sale separately. The manufacture of specialty vehicles is included in this Canadian industry, when made from purchased chassis. These may be manufactured on heavy-duty chassis, such as street-sweepers and fire-fighting vehicles, or on light-duty chassis, such as stretch limousines, ambulances and kit cars.
